neros_violin and I discussed a bit while I was visiting that SPN has been faily at using good music in S5. Opening this episode, this scene, on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising" is ingenious and sets the tone so perfectly. I'm so sure that S2 uses some really great fucking music.

Sam is quite unattractive here. But I have faith he will improve by the end of the episode.

John is out.

They all get choppered away and Dean wakes up in a hospital, wearing the most surprisingly awesome costume ever.

It's always creepy when shows do secretive whispers. I feel so baited because WHY THE FUCK CAN'T THEY JUST TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON?! haha

Truth be told, I almost didn't want to do this one because it's not fun or exciting. They're in a hospital with nowhere else to go; Dean literally cannot leave without the Tessa trying to stop him. And there's the oddly touching moment when John all-but apologizes to Sam for making mistakes, "But I've always done the best I could, I just don't wanna fight anymore, okay?" or the “I put too much on your shoulders, I made you grow up too fast” moments that I just can’t touch. Makes me remember that John is a father and not just a drill sergeant.

But you know what we get? Yellow Eyes, who is seriously one of the best characters on this show.

And a whole shitload of angst to go through for the rest of the season. I still get all sadface over the opening scene of the next episode, especially at Dean's Solo Tear of Manpain™
