Bah Humbug
Dec. 16th, 2013 01:35 pmLast week I finished nearly all my Christmas shopping thanks to online stores ... I think I need a few gift cards to round things out, but otherwise, I'm donedonedone. Which was exciting, given I typically wait until the weekend before when I finally am on vacation.
I was excited about it for a day or two then got all :( on Friday night while at Walgreens and looking at Christmasy stuff. I didn't put my tree up for the second year in a row, because of the cats, and it bugs me this time. On one hand: I know they'll wreck the tree. On the other hand: I kinda wanna watch them try. So, there are really no decorations anywhere in my apartment because they can get onto any surface (there are no high surfaces anywhere in my place) and they will get at anything even 1% tempting. Worst yet, Lucy chews cords, so I'm certain she'll electrocute herself trying to eat the lights.
I think it's maybe more disappointing in that I love putting up and decorating trees. I used to work at a shop was all Christmas supplies from September until January and I learned how to prettily fluff trees, wrap light strands, and balance garland, and so come Christmas, I've always greatly enjoyed doing my tree.
Long story short, I'm not really feeling Christmas this year. I don't know ... it's just not really working in my brain.
