1. I have not put up a Christmas tree since I got the cats; meaning, for three Christmases, I've had no real decorations up in my apartment. It's one half being worried they'll trash it and the other half being pretty lazy by the time the season comes around.
2. The last few years, I've taken an absurd amount of time off from work as a Staycation and to reset myself for work stresses. Last year I was off from Dec 20-Jan 3. It is amazing yet always feels weird to return to work after all that time off.
3. I enjoy gifting and shopping for others as much as I enjoy receiving gifts.
4. I LOVE surprise gifts. There have been times that I've thought of asking my parents to help buy something very specific, but I like having presents to open and not knowing what they are!
5. When I was a wee one, my brother was teasing me about where our presents were and I found the whole stack, prewrapped, labeled 'from Santa' in our basement. That was the year I found out Santa wasn't real :-\
6. As a lil one, I would always wake up super early - like 6am? lol - and try to get my parents to get up to open presents. It became a tradition that they would put me in front of the TV with Mickey's Christmas Carol on, go back to sleep, and then finally get up after the movie was over to open presents.
7. I don't know how it really happened but I used to spend pretty much all of Christmas Eve and Day doing something Christmas oriented with family - Christmas Eve is dinner with the whole family (which isn't much because our family is small - just means we include my aunt and cousin and such). Christmas morning was to exchange presents with my brother and the kids, then later I'd have dinner alone with my parents.
8. Every year when decorating the tree, my mom and I would listen to John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas Together. That whole CD can get me in the Christmas spirit so easily.
9. We also really love A Very Special Christmas
10. My favorite Christmas song ever is Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song.
11. Every year I set a budget for what I'll spend on Christmas, and every year I far exceed that budget LOL
12. I can remember having only two Christmases without snow ... When I was about 24, there was no snow on Christmas Eve and I was really bummed, got pretty vocal about it. On Christmas Day, my mom came down to my room around 930am and bounced on my bed to wake me up and announce it had snowed, and I was super happy.
