Guys, I feel like I have so much to post about! This last weekend, I attended the Supernatural Conference-thingy at DePaul University with [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali and [livejournal.com profile] rozearkana. It was totally awesome on a number of levels, including fangirl times with the two gals I see IRL most often, staying at the classy Hard Rock Hotel on Michigan Avenue, nerding out on Supernatural on an academic/critical level rather than just OMG JENSEN IS SO HOT (of course that came later at dinner while I had cider and we test drove poutine for the first time), and finding myself strangely, surprisingly intrigued by Robbie Thompson who was actually a DELIGHT to see in person.

Honestly, I thought he'd be a total weirdo/hot mess, but he was exactly the opposite. He swore a lot, expressed his love for Star Wars, ragged on writing while blessing it as the best thing ever, told behind the scenes stories about the show and the actors (he claims Jensen and Jared smell like Baby Jesus), and brought his entire persona to a new level for me. I was enthralled through not one but TWO panels that he led, where he was so encouraging of people (including fanfic writers) and kept running over his timeslots because he wanted to keep taking everyone's questions.

I live tweeted most every panel I was in, and plan to round it all up then fill in the holes with more storytelling. The best panel of the day was on Meta, led by the fantastic [livejournal.com profile] costsofregret, who I had only known from Twitter. But she was a shining point in the entire day, not only because of her wickedly smart brain, but also her lovely personality ... she wound up hanging with us for the entire day and joining us for dinner at one of my fave pubs in Chicago. I was so excited when I left, even though I hated saying goodbye to the awesome girls I hung with. I even gushed on the phone to my mom the next morning, because I realized how much I've missed talking about media from back in college. Damnit.

In other news - [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang!!! I was claimed by the ever-fantastic [livejournal.com profile] dephigravity, which is ... just awesome. I have no words for how DELIGHTED I am. We worked together previously on And They Call It Puppy Love, which was a recreation of Disney's 101 Dalmations. But now, we get to play it up with high school angst and pining and basketball player!Jared and artsy outcast!Jensen!

Here be my Big Bang summary ...

Refracted
Jared knows exactly what he needs to do: earn a 4.0 grade point average, lead the basketball team to the state championship, nab a spot on the Homecoming Court, and be the best son two Catholic parents could ask for. He should know, this sort of stuff has been his life for the last 17 years, but this is when everything changes.

Befriending Jensen Ackles, the art student who everyone knows of but doesn't really know, opens Jared’s eyes to an array of possibilities he’d never considered. With Jensen in his life, Jared finds the courage to to be his own person, recognize his real feelings, and make his own decisions when it comes to school, friends, and love.

YAY?! YAY!!
