And happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] plasticine_star. You're one of the highlights of my Twitter feed and I hope you enjoy today with lots of pulled pork sandwiches and margaritas, because that just sounds like it'd up your alley ;-)

I figured it was safe to give you the boys suited up. Y/Y?

SPOILERY

A comment on last night's The Walking Dead )

Non spoilery?

UNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNF.

In random news, this weekend I watched That Guy ... Who Was in That Thing and found it quite amusing to see Rick Worthy in it, before SPN, saying he hates playing bad guys, and he will avoid it all costs from here on out ... O RLY.

It's been a lil while since I posted kitter pics, and they're about the best thing in my life at the moment ♥

Luce and Shepmonster! )

Oh, I forgot, I recently spent a good hour scrolling through tumblr and found this:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read this article (Stray Kitten Wanders into Man's Life) and immediately thought FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!

Especially with the epic bitch!face in the first picture.

And then I realized I already have a kitten-on-his-shoulder!Jensen icon and the kitters look alike! SO PERFECT!

(until I realized I have three other fics to write in the meantime)

For Junie!

For [livejournal.com profile] big_heart_june, with her photobucket going down, and being unable to post Dean Daily or Random Jensen, I present a collection of any and all Jensen photos on my work computer (there's something wrong with the last part of that statement, I know).

And of course for everyone else who enjoys staring at Jensen's face.

plenty more where that came from ... )
dugindeep: (Default)
To all the writers who are more motivated than I am, may I present to you an idea ...

Based on my last few weeks of work, I want fic where Jared is totally wrecked with crazy work hours and Jensen does something kinda schmoopy to cheer him up/coddle him/etc. I foresee lots of banter where Jared can't keep up with the conversation because he's so fuzzed up and Jensen is lightly mocking him for it.

I brought this to [livejournal.com profile] tebtosca and she asked "Must Jared have this hair?" And I said, "Yes, because then Jensen will be all ..."

puppy is sad and tired. needs pettins.

ETA: art is also applicable; I imagine a comic strip of schmoopy events ;-)

> I finally got my phone replaced! I picked it up at my parents' house last night after work then my dad drove me to the phone store to get it set up. I spent most of the night downloading all my fave apps and setting up the phone in even better ways than the last one was. It is crazy comforting to have a real, working phone again. And without a cracked screen! LOL

> My body/mind refused to get up this morning so I called out sick/working from home. It's been a pretty slow, mellow day and I'm still in my pajamas. I so needed this break. I have definitely hit a wall in terms of work.

> Last night, Shep had something in his eye and was a pirate. I DID feel bad laughing at how adorable he looked.

> I have a huge hankering to write something but have no clue what. Stupid brain.

> How adorable is Jensen? SO ADORABLE:

The kitters are now a year old! I've had them for 10 months and my how they've grown. I feel so silly saying that, but seriously.

August 27, 2013

In celebration, I bought them this*. I haven't put it together yet, though. I haven't even moved it from my trunk when I picked it up on Friday LOL.

*really, I've been meaning to get them something bigger as a scratching post-type contraption than the lil thing my mom bought them when I first got them. Their 'birthday' was a great excuse.

Saturday, I spent most of my waking hours at my parents' house going through old boxes, photos, and scrapbooks. I had to clear out a number of boxes that have never left their house, and this included all the crap my mom saved since I was baby--such as grade school report cards, positive letters from the principal, and even standardized test reports that counted my vocab at only 60% and recommended I not continue the advanced English classes I was in - LOL, I said to my dad "And now I'm a marketing writer for a major engineering firm ... though maybe that's why I never went proposals," and we pitifully laughed. I also found old school photos of me from the one year of pee wee soccer I played and I reminisced over the single goal I scored and how I started crying because I was so overwhelmed - he asked 'seriously, you cried while playing?' and I said 'don't you remember junior year bowling? Obviously my one season of soccer was very telling over my ability to cry over sports.' Also, a drawing of something called THE LAMP MACHINE that featured a hand coming out of a lamp to ... I don't know what. I asked them both HOW DID WE NEVER PATENT THIS?. And a nice little essay about celebrating my mom's birthday when I was in third grade that summarized rounds of air hockey with, "My dad won three times. My brother won twice. My mom won once. Well, that was how we spent my mom's birthday."

APPARENTLY. MY PASSIVE AGGRESSION DEVELOPED EARLY AS I WAS OBVIOUSLY HURT I NEVER WON LOLOLOL. All these other people won ... WELL. THAT'S HOW THE DAY WENT.

I spent the afternoon awwing at my little face, bright blonde hair, and unfortunate haircuts that my mom always gave me:

Hilariously, as soon as my dad saw the left picture, he said OH I REMEMBER THAT! and I'm like "What? the hideous dress?" I somehow kinda dig the right picture. My brother also came over to empty out a bunch of his crap (they have to clear out their basement for the major renovations from the April floods) and we kept laughing at the stupid crap he found from his own high school and college days - like all of his ID cards, three rejection letters from the school he failed out of and kept attempting to re-enroll in, HIS FINGERPRINTS FROM WHEN HE WAS ALMOST ARRESTED HAHAH, and coupons and credit card bills ... from 2001. Then again, I found a $10 Blockbuster gift card that my dad harassed me for never using.

Me: They're not even AROUND anymore.
Him: Sure they are! ... Somewhere.
Me: Then YOU use it.
Him: Nah, not interested.

Soon after all the fun of our youth, I lamented the patheticness of my junior high and high school years. Oh puberty. I did read through most of the newspaper clippings from HS and college bowling, as well as a number of articles I wrote for the college newspaper that pretty much stink versus today's standards. I can't believe how much of this crap my mom really stayed - alternatively, I can't believe how much of it I threw out, not caring THAT much about it all this many years later. I did keep a number of papers I wrote in college, especially my feature writing class and film studies work. I then stayed at the parents' to play Trivial Pursuit: 1980s, which I purchased at a Goodwill store for only $3! Fun times were had by all, as it's not so much the challenge of trivia (well a little), but more the hilarity that comes in between. Like my dad answering every question about a newscaster with Dan Rather, yet it was always Peter Jennings or Tom Brokaw. I told him "one of these days it WILL be Dan Rather!"

Yesterday, I got up at a pretty decent hour (for me) and drove downtown so I could spend the day working without interruption and start the week off fairly on schedule (OMG I HAVE SO MUCH WORK THIS WEEK), and once I pulled around the corner to park in the garage next door, I realized I had forgotten my keycard to get in. I thought to myself, "Oh, if Nelson is here, he will let me up, he knows me ..." Indeed, Nelson the super nice security guard who is always here when I work OT was at the front desk, but informed me that the building management actually does not entrust security with office keycards, so he could let me up to my floor but after that I'm on my own ... I was not looking forward to driving back home and in again, so after finding out my coworker wasn't coming in until at least 3pm (and by now it was 11am), I decided to play hooky, so I went shopping then to my friends' condo to swim in her pool, laze in the sun, drink strawberitas, eat pizza and dips and bread, and watch a few episodes of Supernanny, which is a terrible guilty pleasure for us both. I got home around 10:30pm, went to bed, couldn't fall asleep until nearly midnight, then got up at 6am to come into work an hour early and get a jump on the day.

Whew, what a weekend.

A huge part of me wants to go home and write fic, but I actually am emailing myself work to do at home. Why must I be an adult?

That can make one happy on a fairly crappy day, right?

Last night, Lucy FREAKED OUT while I was trying to do her eye ointment and she scratched the shit out of my boob, side, and inner arm. Then this morning, she was running away from me whenever I came near her; I know it's not my fault, per se. It just makes me feel sad.

This afternoon, I found out one of my favorite coworkers (in my department, nonetheless) is leaving us. It is sad as A) I really dig her as a person, B) she's an extremely hard worker and helps out where she can, C) my workload will be INSANE until her position is filled. I'm also facing some odd back-door talking wherein people are calling me about assignments that are supposed to go through my boss first, as if I'll just ~work on them because they called me. And these people are only semi-trustworthy to not raise a fuss if I don't do what they want.

But then I saw this earlier and I keep looking at it some more, and it just made me kinda excited and be all OMG SHEP AND LUCY!

:DDDDD

I'm a dork, I know.

Oh boy

Yesterday, I made an appointment to take Lucy to the vet ... she's had something up with her one eye for a lil over a week and it's gotten better then worse, better then worse. Basically the inner part of her eyelid was looking red and swollen, and she'd get some nasty discharge out of it. Well, the second I brought the cat carrier out, she went running under the bed. Flash forward to the vet's office and she kept going INTO the carrier to hide from all the weird noises in neighboring rooms LOL.

Following a 10-minute conversation on feline herpes (omg scary) followed by a long dye test to make sure her eye hadn't been scratched, the doctor finally decided it was just an irritated eyelid and gave me a steroid ointment to give to her twice a day. With the nurse holding Lucy down while wrapped in a towel, the vet made it seem very simple to get the ointment into the corner of her eye. Last night and this morning? By myself? Not so much. At least after just three treatments, the eye is already looking better. And she doesn't have feline herpes. LOL, seriously though, I liked the vet, but I don't get why she had to have this long, thorough conversation on it when we weren't even testing for that.

Hilariously, they weighed her and said she's 9.6lbs. O_O I can only imagine how much Shep weighs, since he is literally twice her size.

I go back to work tomorrow, which will likely be good for me (human interaction, getting up and around, actually showering), but I'm still feeling a lil crummy and coughing a ton. I'm also still incredibly bitter that the first time I get REAL DAYS OFF from work, I'm stuck indoors watching TV. Blah.

But I did find a great new show - though I will warn that it's only five episodes, ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, and is just barely into production for its second season. The Fall (BBC on Netflix) with Gillian Anderson as a senior investigator brought in to analyze an unsolved murder investigation ... which turns into just one death in a serial murder case. I found the first episode captivating and creepy, which I think is a great combination for a crime show. The show spends equal parts following the police as it does the killer, and I found that incredibly interesting (and still creepy).

I've also started Ripper Street, also on Netflix, but the second episode wasn't as interesting to me as the first one. Summary: Set in the East End of London in 1889 during the aftermath of Jack The Ripper murders. The infamous H Division - the police precinct charged with keeping order in the district of Whitechapel- is in a chaotic state trying to keep order after a tumultuous time for London and reported infamously worldwide.

UGH SERIOUSLY. I've been staring at my doc for like an hour and I added about 100 words. IDK WHAT I'M DOING WITH THIS FIC. WHINE BITCH WHINE.

Can we also talk about the new CW Promo Pics? Or at least the outtakes? I now wonder if this is why CW never wanted to do updated photoshoots with them LOL I'M KIDDING. IT'S JUST FUNNY TO THINK ABOUT.

But, seriously. THEY'RE BOTH IN HENLEYS. AND DRESSED ALIKE! AND BOTH POSING THE SAME WAY WITH ADORABLE TILTED HEADS?

Also? Jensen's brow. I love it.

Welp, Friday was muy, muy busy with work meeting up in St. Paul, then my rushing to the airport to hopefully grab an earlier flight (which I did not), followed by spotty wifi, flying back to Chicago, racing to Whirlyball to meet up with coworkers for one's going away party, and spending the rest of the evening drinking and eating delicious deep-dish pizza until I finally got home around midnight.

Saturday was also quite busy with brunch with the parents, some shopping, then training it downtown to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7! For beer, wings, and things! I had some very, very tasty cherry beer that tasted quite like Cherry Coke, ate some majorly fantastic wings, and may or may not have left our very hilarious, charming, and bantery waiter my number O_O

Today I've been watching Luther and just hanging out with my first quiet 'me' day in like two weeks. ANYWAY! That is how I'm FINALLY catching up on this!

Old photo of me? I first thought of this one from when I was about 21-22, at the local zoo.

But I wasn't sure that was old enough. And then I couldn't find any. Except this one, when I was 24 and thin(ish) and had shorter, brown hair, and I loved it. Sigh.

Favorite Recipe: It is not written anywhere, but I do so love this rice and sausage dish my mom has made forever, and my dad's mom made it for them before that. Basically, you slice up tomatoes, all sorts of peppers, and onion then place in a sauce pan and cover with apple juice. Cook that for a while - maybe 20 mins? - then add in sliced summer sausage and cook for another 10-15 minutes. Serve over rice. Voila!

What am I looking forward to? Um, nothing immediate comes to mind ... but [livejournal.com profile] bertee is coming to visit in October and I can't wait to see her face, watch her play with the kitters, and then spend hours fully appreciating Jensen Ackles' face.

Eep

I am so tired today it is ridiculous. All due to having far too much fun with my brother (MY BROTHER!) last night at the White Sox game and beyond. Some coworkers got together for a group outing and my brother actually said he'd go (SURPRISE!). Even though we left later than my coworkers, we beat them there because apparently Metra is actually superior to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). So my brother and I started drinking at the Patio Party (which is free drinks and food about two hours before the game). And boy did we take advantage of that ... I think we had about 5-6 beers apiece there ... then we went out to our seats with my coworkers and were already drunk (while coworkers were getting there). We had another 3-4 beers out there then left in the bottom of the 8th when the Sox were badly losing.

The night went on with a few-mile walk to a CTA bus stop, a bus ride over to Greektown, and then a stop at our fave late-night haunt, Philly's Best, for some cheese steak sammiches. We then walked another mile or so back to the train station and each of us got home after 12:30am.

Obviously, I am well and hungover. Luckily I don't have much on the docket tonight so I can go to bed early, HOWEVER. I NEED TO WRITE TONIGHT. So, my real point here is to ask if anyone will be around for writing sprints or to at least pester me into actually writing once I'm home from work in a couple hours? I have 3K of Pacific Rim fic but really want to get moving forward on it as I will be really pretty busy the next few days and would like to not have this story just stall forever (like so many other WIPs *cry*).

And just to make this a fan-friendly post, I'm envisioning jaeger-pilot!Jensen as such ... the aviators REALLY help :D

P.S. To those of you on Facebook, I suggest following the Dean Winchester - Jensen Ackles page and other SPN-related variations. I do and I'm blessed with regular Dean-Jensen pics throughout my day ... which is how I found the above photo :DDD

If we mean in the last year, as in since July 22, 2012, then it would be getting the kitters. Hands down.

But if we mean in the year of 2013, well. You may have heard that I went to the Paul McCartney Concert? :D

A few silly pics plus videos + BOYZ II MEN! )

[livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali is crashing on my couch this weekend and yesterday evening we went out for baby-sized nachos and sangrias. Today we took in the White Sox winning! Played with Shep and Lucy. Then we went to see Pacific Rim; the first time for me, second for her.

Now, I didn't dislike it, but I didn't really love it - a few things REALLY bothered me about this movie (though not enough to hate it, obviously, just to kind of side eye it). But the most notable thing was getting in the car and shaking my head while proclaiming: "Of course now I wanna write a J2 about that." Back at my apartment, after five minutes of talking through plot ideas and back stories, I huffed, shook my head, laughed at myself and was all: "I cannot believe I'm considering this."

She said, "It's not like I wanted you to see this movie just to--"

And I yelled (playfully), "Oh, of course you did! I have no idea how that sentence was going to end, but I know it was badly."

Then she admitted that she had hoped other people would walk out of there wanting to write fic for it.

So now she's heading to bed and I'm in my room with my laptop to start writing Kaiju-fighting J2. Great.

P.S. I cannot believe they arleady have a wiki
