Summary: A man falls dead in Grant Park from a heart attack in the middle of summer, 100-degree temps in Chicago. It should be open and shut, but it never really is with these two Homicide Detectives. Prequel to In This Windy City - prior reading is not required, though might add to the flavor.
Soundtrack: This fic is entirely inspired by some of my favorite Black Keys songs, so consider this a soundtrack/primer to my favorite band. Title comes from a song on their newest album El Camino.

Notes: First off, thanks to raeschae for a great beta! And then one_2_3_4, tebtosca, matalinolukaret, and plasticine_star for cheerleading and random help the last few days.

Second: This is for kelleigh's birthday! I had planned to write this for her birthday last January, but then I traveled to celebrate with her and lost time, and decided my presence was a better present. This past Sunday, I felt like writing and randomly said 'hey, I wonder if I can get this done by Wednesday.' And I did :D Also, as this is a surprise to her, the art is nowhere near as amazing as what she created for the original copfic story. I lamented over this and finally decided that having a surprise!fic was more exciting than making her do art for her own present LOL.
