Well I temporarily solved my laptop issue by removing the battery and putting it back in. It did not, however, do anything to aid the charging issue, which was the problem back in August and seems to be getting worse. So I now DEFINITELY should take it in to Best Buy for service. Oy vey. At least I got it up and running long enough to edit my [livejournal.com profile] polybigbang, which I post this Friday!

In other news, The Walking Dead continues to push every freaking envelope now doesn't it?

1. I do not like The Governor, and not even in that 'he's bad, so you're not supposed to like him, but he's still deliciously evil.' Like, I want to punch him in the throat then decapitate him like all his creepy lil waterheads. Ugh. I never liked him from the get-go; the actor kinda bugs me, too, and whenever he talks, it feels like it's Liam Neeson trying to do an American accent. He just kept becoming a worse and worser individual with the aquarium of heads, killing people in the quiet then running around with a grin on his face, holding the zombie-ring fights, and then the shit with Maggie. UGH. If you watch The Talking Dead then you know it was already referenced, but Yvette Nicole Brown made the comment that The Gov had JUST had sex with Andrea and she was promising to come back so you know that the shit he pulls with Maggie is just because he's a sick sonuvabitch, not like he's greedy for a woman's body or whatever. IDK, but that scene really had me saying 'please don't go there, PLEASE, not THERE,' and I'm thankful it ended how it did.

I watch TWD each week with my BFF and her husband and he was asking us why we thought it would be going too far after all the other shit we see ... I couldn't really explain it but it just felt REALLY WRONG. Like, they've already been through so much, and I think Maggie could better handle a fist-to-face beating than any sexual assault.

Ugh. Okay. Moving back to the point ... IDK if it's just because of how much I hate The Gov, if it's the actress this season, or the writers doing shit to her ... but I'm really hating Andrea now, too. I never really loved her, but I appreciated her role in their li'l society in that she was a hardass because of losing her sister and she was pretty damned good with a gun. Now she's just some weird temptress with The Gov.

I hate Woodbury.

2. WILL SOMEONE FUCKING HUG CARL ALREADY? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. This kid - a CHILD - is living on the run and has seen good people be eaten, lost his BFF-playmate, and then had to shoot his OWN MOTHER and no one, NO ONE, is giving him any real comfort for it. I'll admit, last season I pretty much wanted to strangle the kid to stay in the fucking house, but he's obviously come into his own now and is so badass that he just randomly made his own decision to save Michonne and even traversed the prison all on his own for medical supplies when Hershel lost his leg. And no one is even patting the kid on the head in sympathy.

3. I used to really enjoy Rick ... like, way back in S1. S2 made me super, super annoyed with him seesawing and always running to Lori for help. The beginning of S3 made me like him again (and lust a lil, tbh) because he was back into badass soldier mode! But then he went nuts for like 1-2 episodes and is still kinda shady. I'm still pissed at him for #2, ya know? I get that he has to have his own time to grieve but JFC, when he realized Carl did it, he just collapsed off to the side and cried in the dirt without saying a word to him. How much do you want to fuck your son up, Rick?!

4a. The prison is very questionable. I like it, don't get me wrong! And there's been plenty of crazy drama with the inmates ... but I'm feeling a li'l restless about Axel. Unfortunately my BFF's husband has read all the novels so he tends to drop li'l comments/spoilers/details down that I would almost rather not know. Like how Axel goes after Beth in the prison, and of course, with the main fighters (Rick, Daryl, Glenn) off at Woodbury, it makes it all the more possible. Ugh.

4b. Also with the prison ... I think/am really pretty sure that something crazy/bad happened at the prison before Rick & the Gang got there. A) the prisons argued over how many days they'd been in the prison before R&tG showed up; B) in this last episode, there were TWO people who made the comment that just the 10 of R&tG cleared out the entire prison. I get that it's a big effort no matter what because it's a huge place and there were plenty of walkers in that place, but to have TWO different people say it in one episode seems like they're pushing the point (or maybe they're like SPN writers and are just saying shit to say shit, that's very possible). And C) the biggest issue I have with the prison: When R&tG let Oscar and Axel stay and showed them to the cell block they were allowed to be in, all the prisoners were restrained with zipties behind their backs, laying face down on the cement, and executed in the back of the head.

Knowing what I do of prisons a la Lock Up (lulz), prison staff would have ziptied them all while they were still inside their cells then released them. To avoid a riot, they would have had to ziptie each individual prisoner then lead each one out and help them get down on their bellies, then shoot each in the back of the head. But why? My hypothesis is that prison staff decided to kill off most of the prisoners before they could turn, and I think Oscar and Axel know about it. I also think there's something else weird going on that we don't know that I'm PRAYING the writers don't let drop. I feel like all this shadiness in the place - between Tomas and Andrew trying to kill everyone, Axel being creepy, the argument over the days since the outbreak, etc - has to lead somewhere. But maybe I'm asking too much of a TV Show. Who knows.

4c. Andrew is the one who opened the gates and put out the human heart a few episodes ago, right? I don't remember if I missed that, if it was implied, if I'm imagining shit and we're supposed to still believe someone might be hanging around and trying to sabotage R&tG's lives.

5a. Based on the extended preview from The Talking Dead (omg it was crazy if you didn't see it!) we trust that R&tG get into Woodbury. What happens next? My BFF and husband think that Rick will try to bring all of Woodbury back to the prison. I think not. I think that would be A) a huge undertaking and B) against Rick's actions thus far - he didn't want the prisoners living in their area, didn't want to trust Michonne being there, didn't want to tell anyone new that they were staying at Hershel's farm (remember the bar shooting?). But, what is really going to happen? I don't see any way that Rick will die in the grand scheme of the show ... so he has to have a face off with The Gov, and The Gov's gonna die, right? Or be run off, or something. And then I think Rick will want to take Glenn and Maggie back to the prison and everyone will live there for a li'l while. BFF's husband told me that in the novels, they stay at the prison long enough to grow crops then they move on ... I'm not sure that I buy a whole 'nother season of them in the prison. I feel like the key to inciting more drama without rehashing things is to keep them moving, continue that tension of unrest and instability.

5b. It took a few viewings of the preview and my friends to point it out, but did you see that Woodbury had the fire ring going again with the zombies? My friends hypothesized that The Gov will put Glenn and Maggie in there to duke it out. O_O

5c. The real face-off I can't wait for is Daryl and Merle! I said it a few weeks ago but I think that Merle will give Daryl the biggest fucking guilt trip and fuck up his mind so much about being left behind. It'll be like when Daryl was looking for Sophia and hallucinating Merle giving him shit about his life. And I think that when push comes to shove, Daryl will stay with R&tG rather than joining his brother (in Woodbury or wherever) and that will create even bigger problems. It'd be really fucking cool if they had to face off in the zombie ring and Merle finally got chewed to pieces \0/

6. The Glenn-chair scene really freaked me the hell out. I was SO TENSE and worrying. I was certain he would not die, but you never really know in this show, esp after the writers said no one is safe. I joked that they only killed Lori two eps ago so they have to give us some space before they kill the next one. But you never know! But shit, Glenn was pretty bad ass with that chair.

Wow. I promise you I did not intend to write that novel, there.

Also, relatedly, when I was heading home at 11pm, it was really dark and the roads were empty. I was all wrapped up in a scarf and heavy coat with Christmas music playing and I got this stupid idea in my head about an impending apocalypse coming in the midst of the holiday season. It feels really perverse and funny in my head, like someone's singing along to "Sleigh Bells", not paying full attention to the road, when everything with a motor shuts down, including the car. And they're just staring around like WTF and wind up on some crazy trail with random helpers and non-helpers alike. IDEK. My brain. WTF.
