I've Got My Hands Up So Take Your Aim

Part of me wishes I'd taken more vids, longer ones especially, but I was also living in the moment. Singing, dancing, screaming, clapping, everything, for three hours straight. It's a pretty damned good workout and I keep joking I should start exercise classes where we just dance, jump around, and scream along to all the Foo Fighters songs.

Tomorrow is spn_j2_bigbang day for me! I'm so excited to get this story posted, along with some great art and graphics from matchboximpala.

The first bits of this fic were written back on May 27, 2012 with a quick 3,000 words based on an episode of Scandal that piqued my interests for a J2 set up. Then it sat. Cobwebs covering it until I would pick it up, dust it off, and read it. I loved what I had first written and wanted so badly to fill out these characters to everything I wanted from them if I were to read it from someone else. But it just never happened.

I spent most of this spring moaning and groaning over writing for Big Bang, how I couldn't figure out what to write, none of my WIPs were appealing because they'd sat too long, and even if I pulled this one out, who would want to read a political AU when the world is such trash right now (especially for most of us Americans). Then in the final days before drafts were due, I pulled this out and in a last-ditch effort I was able to turn in a 21,000-word draft with dozens of holes because I just scatter-wrote anything I could think of to meet the minimum word count.

In the last two weeks, I finally dove back into the document (following some work craziness, friend drama, side effects of a prescription change sidelining me for a week or so) and have completed this sucker for a total of 48,000+ words. To say it's been dull is an understatement. And I really, really, really hope you enjoy it. This is just all me being sentimental about how happy I am to have finally finished the fic. If no one reads it, I'll cry. But also be happy it's just finally done and posted. I forgot how amazing it feels to commit to a fic like this and see it through to the end.

With another last-minute dash to the finish line, I've completed my spn_j2_bigbang draft today. It's such a long, pathetic story for how I got to finishing this draft, including rereading old WIPs and ditching 10k of a new fic I wrote in the last two weeks to finally add on 15K to an existing work and finally have something to submit.

Also ... Titles are HARD.

Also, it's over 80 today. That's HOT for Chicago after battling 40-50s the past few weeks. I didn't realize it was so hot until I was sweating in my apartment even with the windows and balcony open. So now the air is on and I get to battle high energy bills YAY!

I think I've done these quite a bit in the past ... but I've totally stolen the actual topics from cherie_morte because she just posted hers.

SO VERY MUCH THE WORST.

But also very alive and fine. Aside from being under a work deadline that I've screwed myself over because I've had insomnia for the last week ... about the same timing as when I had it last year. I wonder if there's something to be said for that *thinky face*

It also doesn't help that I've been working from home the last two weeks ... so when I'm up too late, then I sleep in late and/or nap in the afternoon, thus being wide awake at night. Yesterday I slept from 4-1030 am then from 12-5pm and did like 0 minutes of work. So bad. So last night I just faced facts and stayed up ... and I'm still awake, working for the last few hours, meaning I was online at 5am as it's now 8am. I have a counselor's appointment this morning so it's good timing to talk to her about it.

In fandom news, I signed up for my EIGHTH YEAR of spn_j2_bigbang. Will this be the year I actually finish a WIP ... ahead of, dare I say, schedule????

I also was talking kitty!jensen with peeps on Twitter and then remembered that time I wrote cat!Dean. So I put that up on AO3 (though I then received an email that it was marked as spam until they review and release it for public view *eyeroll*)

I've road tripped a few times in the last year, but it's such a mix of songs and genres that I couldn't think of what a stellar drive-with-the-windows-down-hands-in-the-air-and-sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs would really be. Then this hopped into my brain.
