Last week I finally got my new DVD player hooked up so I could resume my Hulu and Netflix addiction. I started out by watching all of Season 3 of The Profit, which is one of my favorite new shows. IDEK, but I have a crush on Marcus. I especially love when he calls the owners out on being shitty, and he's all "I'm so incredibly mad right now," in the calmest of voices LOL. I fell onto The Profit by falling onto Shark Tank first then seeing a zillion adds for The Profit. I started DVRing it because they were handling a Chicago food truck, which seemed super interesting. So yeah, apparently I'm all about Shark Tank now, too.

Then I tried Hulu's original Difficult People. I only watched one episode and thought it was too much, just far too obnoxious. Which, is probably saying a lot for someone who adores Ricky Gervais, Jon Taffer, and Gordon Ramsey. But really, it was just too much without the pay off of being that funny. So then I wandered around the other Hulu originals and saw Casual, which I knew had just received a Golden Globe nom. I love Michaela Watson from other stuff I've seen her in, so I gave it a shot. I fell for it immediately and yet over time came to absolutely freaking hate the daughter. She is The Worst Human Being on That Show. Which says a lot, because they're all pretty terrible ... and yet so many roles reverse throughout the season that I'm not sure I like any of them anymore.

And finally, I stayed up until 530am on Saturday/Sunday to watch Netlifx's Making a Murder, which was absolutely insane. I had a feeling I'd love it no matter what, just because ... hello? Crime documentary about the wrongfully accused? That's pretty much my bread and butter ... but man, this story. This family. These attorneys. There are so many winners and losers, and losers who are really the winners of the story, and vice versa. It's incredible and great storytelling. I highly recommend if you were into Serial or The Jinx at all.

I churned out 5500 words last night and actually REALLY LOVE THEM. A+ AMY.

I don't have much time to write today, at all, because I was asked to help support a coworker and her proposal is a mess, so I'm doing a lot on it to help ... and then tonight is bowling and this weekend is coming, but I hope to find time to write. I NEED TO FIND THE TIME.

In other news, this totally cracked me up just now ... IMing with said-coworker about this assignment, when suddenly she says (funny background is I got her addicted to Walking Dead and Arrested Development via Netflix in the last four months):

Her: sidebar
Her: Ever seen the show Justified?
Me: YES
Me: it's one of my favorites
Her: [Boyfriend] and I are OBSESSED
Me: LOVE IT.
Her: Raylan is a BABE
Me: i want to have Raylan's babies
Me: LOL!
Her: great minds thing alike

Relatedly, I was a bit disappointed in this last season of Justified, just, like overall. I dunno that anything will match the fabulousness of Mags and her sons, but still ... something felt a lil off in the whole plot and arc of the season. And then the very last episode felt like it was just sorta pushed on at the end. Oh, well, I guess they can't all be winners. At the very least, we got some really awesome Tim and Rachel moments. I may or may not have been secretly shipping Raylan/Rachel at times, and then with Tim and his PTSD, I just wanted to swaddle him against my body and rock him to sleep :D

Ugh, I had this whole post typed up about drama in my family, just to get it out, then I deleted because who really cares about that? LOL

The last week or so have been crazy with the family, with my parents' house being flooded in last week's torrential downpour across the Chicago suburbs, work, trying to write my Big Bang, and catching up on tons of TV.

Speaking of TV, I have anger with The Following and Hannibal and Hemlock Grove Spoilers ahoy )

I have nothing else to report except my Big Bang is finally up to 12K, not including the scene that may or may not have lost when transferring the file between computers D: Someone remind me why I signed up when I DECLARED last year I would not do this again?

And my kitters are getting bigger and bigger, and cuter and cuter. (I may have planted that mouse but he didn't seem to mind)

in the elevator with a coworker, who started up the convo with a pepped-up "What's up, *last name*??"

Me: *grumbles*
Him: Oh, it's one of those days, huh?
Me: It's always one of those days.
Him: Oh c'mon now.
Me: I woke up the last two mornings thinking it's Friday.
Him: That doesn't happen.
Me: TWO DAYS. And it's still not Friday.
Him: But you're almost there. Tomorrow's Friday.
Me: And I'll probably think it's Saturday.

I really hate mornings. I feel like the best thing in the world is when I wake up, think it's time to get up, but realize I have another 40 minutes and can go back to sleep. IT FEELS SO GOOD! And then the alarm goes off again and it's 7am and I really do have to get up.

I could probably also blame the drinking. While it helps me fall asleep immediately, it makes me think it's okay to stay up until 12:30am watching The West Wing, which was mostly because I wanted to yell at all the women on the latest episode of The Newsroom and decided to watch a real show. RAR! Relatedly, I saw a preview for the Season 3 premiere of Treme, but didn't know what it was. My brain was all excited, thinking "This looks like The Wire in NOLA!" Then when I saw what it was, googled, and held my breath, I realized that I had heard of this two years ago when it started but never watched! I need to rectify this. There are so many juicy David Simon people in that show!
